Flyin' High

This is the place I love to be these days.. on the boat, beer, coozie that doesn't float, and a camera with a really long lens. And of course, my dear friends. There's nothing like a day on the lake, whether it's on the wakeboard thinking about leaning back and sticking my landing or floating in a life-jacket diaper. Where are the photos of me!? I need another photog on the boat. This is how we do it.

Michelle & Joey's Slideshow

The ceremony photos you see in this slideshow are strictly from church photography guidelines - no flash, and no moving around. Yet, there were plenty of things to photograph to tell the story. I took the liberty to not use a tripod. This slideshow is in random order. Michelle and Joey are a beautiful couple, laid-back, fun, and good people. We were probably the last crew to be able to photograph at the historic Swan House after a reception (as I believe they are now restricting it in their contract). You'll see photos that are individualized to them, and tell the story of their wedding day. Congratulations you guys! I'm very happy for you...

"Life's Too Short"

Today's post is in memory of Randy Pausch, who has inspired and keeps inspiring so many people with "The Last Lecture". Quoted from the Wikipedia, "This talk was modeled after an ongoing series of lectures where top academics are asked to think deeply about what matters to them, and then give a hypothetical "final talk," i.e., "what wisdom would you try to impart to the world if you knew it was your last chance?" About a year ago, doctors told Randy he would have three to six months to live. He gave this lecture about a month after he was told this. Randy died two weeks ago.

I have come to think of all the things that we as a human race get hung up on. When what you should do is remember that life's too short. Life's too short to worry about the little things, whether it be who said what, an email you've sent, regrets. Life should be spent as much as you can with or about the things you hold dear. What will you leave behind. I believe that with this comes time management. And after researching Randy Pausch, I discovered a great lecture he gave about time management that is worth watching twice. Watch it by clicking here.

In short, Randy Pausch is a remarkable man with courage most of us can't even think of. He has moved me with his dedication to life and to his family. His story is heartwarming and his legacy will continue to inspire mankind, and most importantly to him, his children.

So fill in the blank, life's too short to...
